The main focus at this conference will be on behaviour management strategies.  These strategies are beneficial for all ages and for parenting all children and adults.

Keynote Presenter: Dan Kalyn
Presentation: Strategy Model for Managing Challenging Behavior in PWS

Dan has been the co-owner and operator of D & L Consulting for the past 19 years. This agency contracts with The Community Living Association to provide behavior consultation to parents, caregivers and staff supporting both children and adults with mental challenges. Dan has also taught in the Human Service Worker program at Okanagan College and has conducted a number of workshops on non-aversive behavior management to both parents and the staff of various human service organizations.

Outline: This presentation will review a model parents and caregivers can use to establish reactive, proactive and motivational strategies. All aspects of establishing an overall non-aversive behavioral plan will be explored. Participants will learn the skills involved in a variety of procedures from redirection to establishing social skill goals and setting up for success.

Food & Refreshments

At the conference, we will be providing coffee and tea during the morning break.  Lunch will be soup, build your own sandwiches, seasonal vegetables and dip, and fresh fruit.  The adults with PWS participating on this day will be included at the lunch.  Parents are responsible for their adult children during the lunch time, appropriate supervision as necessary for each individual.  No group lunch is provided for the infant/toddler child care.  Please send a lunch for your child only, no food will be shared.  Please see “Infant/Toddler Childcare Form” for details on agenda for the day and on recommended necessities.
